Another new month has arrived, and it’s already proving to be a very hectic one for me. With the Canadian election in full swing, most of my time is being occupied by polls and punditry. Add in regular-season football, post-season baseball, and volatile financial markets and you’ve got yourself a very busy Money Grubbing Lawyer.
To kick off this month, I’ll share with you a few of my goals in an attempt to shame me into actually following through:
Financial Goals
- Pay down at least $2,000 on my student debt.
- Research and purchase shares in at least one BRIC company.
- Finally get my Questrade Self-Directed RRSP up and running.
Blog Goals
- Participate in at least one blogging event per week.
- Increase average readership by 25%.
- Write a guest post for another blog.
- Launch the new design I’ve been working on for MGL.
Personal Goals
- Finally sign up for guitar lessons.
- Read A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry- it’s been sitting on my bedside table for way too long.
- Host a theme dinner party- I’m thinking a Diwali party to try out my favourite curry recipe on a larger group.
- Go moose hunting with my father and uncle- my grandfather is currently quite ill, and it’s making me wish I had spent more time doing those type things with him when he was well.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to wish my Jewish friends and readers Shana Tova, and my Muslim friends and readers Eid Mubarak!

Great goals!
I especially like the fact that you are specific about them: “Increase average readership by 25%.” And “Pay down at least $2,000 on my student debt.”
Best of luck!
BTW: What kind of Guitar?
Great goals. It must make a big difference when you actually have specific (clearly defined) goals written out.
Do you tend to be a “reach for the stars” goal setter, a realist, or a “well, if I set ‘em low, I can’t fail…” type of goal-setter? In general, I mean- I’m sure you can accomplish all of these ones this month.
