Welcome to MoneyGrubbingLawyer. If this is your first time here, you may want to get started by learning a little bit more about me and about this site. If you like what you see, you can subscribe to receive updates by email or in a reader. Thanks for visiting!
I’m moving my weekly round-up to Saturday, and this is the first in a number of changes that I’ll be making to this site over the next week. While I liked the Mid-Week Roundup as a nice way to break up the week, it just makes more sense to have it at the end. It may be what everyone else does, but they do it for a reason.
Here are a few of my favourite articles from the blogosphere this past week:
- Mr. ToughMoneyLove has an excellent article about protecting your spouse from creditors.
- No Debt Plan writes about his habit of keeping old magazines in an article about dealing with “stuff”. As someone with way too much stuff, I can relate. However, the inclusion of BMW fan mags in his stuff is certainly a redeeming feature.
- The Passive Dad offers some great tips for making old stuff new again. Any post that recommends massage is going to be a favourite of mine!
- I’ve been thinking a lot lately about purchasing some investment properties. Moolanomy wrote this week about investing in fixer-upper rentals.
- Generation X Finance reviews web-based financial management sites.
- Clever Dude discusses how much money it takes to feel “rich”.
- The markets took a real pounding this week - my portfolio is in the basement. Canadian Capitalist wonders (in jest) if media headlines are signaling aTSX has finally bottom.
- Multifoldream$ has a great, simple overview of the whats and whys of RRSPs . This is a good starting point for anyone just starting to think about retirement savings and investing.
- Finally, Quest for Four Pillars posted a few lessons learned blogging. I’m learning many of these each day!
MoneyGrubbingLawyer had articles featured in several carnivals this week. My article “Forget Pet Insurance, Buy Catnip and Kibble Instead” was featured in the 15th Finance Fiesta and in the 43rd Canine Carnival, while my article Choose Your Own Adventure, Bankruptcy Edition! was selected as part of the 98th Carnival of Twentysomething Finances. Thanks to the hosts of each of these carnivals.
Broke Grad Student also featured my article on Tackling Student Debt as part of the article 25 Tips, Ideas, Resources for Paying Back Student Loans, while Passive Dad added my tale of earning an easy $50 by participating in a marketing focus group to his list of Fast Quick Money Links To Help In An Emergency. Thanks to both of you.
Finally, MoneyGrubbingLawyer has been added to PFBuzz, a fantastic site for sharing some of the best posts on the broad subject of personal finance. If you haven’t done so already, this is a great site to check out.
